The Great Bend Bat Cats Players and Staff cannot thank our host families enough for the generosity they extend to our organization. As a way to say thank you for all that you do, host families can enjoy exclusive benefits, including:
- Tickets to any paid special events or games.
- 20% discount on Bat Cats merchandise (excluding jerseys) and Concessions (excluding alcohol)
- Team-Signed baseball, and Team Picture

- Expectations of the Great Bend Bat Cats Organization
- Maintain prompt and open communication regarding any questions or concerns that may arise, or any change in player placements.
- Provide host families with discounted merchandise, and other included perks.
- Player Arrivals Most players will arrive around the date of May 25, 2023 and stay through the conclusion of the season in late July or early August. Due to school schedules or college team commitments, some may arrive later in the season or depart earlier. Some players may also be added and released for various reasons during the season, so we appreciate flexibility and willingness to take in a new player if this should happen.
- Meals/Schedules With a full schedule of 48 games (24 home, 24 away), players will spend much of the summer traveling with the team on road games. While the team is on the road, the Bat Cats will provide players a post-game meal. For overnight staysthe Bat Cats will provide all meals. Players will generally report to the ballpark mid to late afternoon on home game-days, and will also participate in community appearances, workouts, and other activities throughout the day.
- Transportation Host families will not be responsible for player transportation. Many players will have their own car. For those that do not, we will place them with or near another player that does have transportation for carpooling. For liability reasons, we ask that the host family does not provide a car/truck for the player to use during the summer season.
- Player's Free Time Our players main purpose for being here is baseball. Their schedule will consist of practices, games, and road trips. With their limited free time, you may invite them to participate in some family activities with you, but please keep in mind their busy schedule. Our front office and coaching staffs take pride in recruiting players who will be positive role models in the Great Bend and surrounding communities. Players sign a code of conduct and will understand that they are to positively represent themselves, their families, their school, and the Bat Cats organization always. The Bat Cats operate on a ZERO TOLERANCE policy in regard to player and staff behavior.
- Vacation We understand summer is a busy time for many families which may include vacations or weekends at the lake. We ask that in preparation for this time away, provide player with all appropriate keys, access codes, and protocol for all necessary household operations while you’re away. If your player(s) are unable to stay at your home during your vacation, for whatever reason, contact the Bat Cats and we will make suitable arrangements.
- Interns In addition to our players, we are also looking for host families to house our interns for the 2023 season. Our interns will be high school or college students who are pursuing a career in the sport industry. While interns will not travel with the team, their schedule will consist of working each Bat Cats home game, with additional office hours and community appearances throughout the season. Interns will arrive in late-May and stay through the conclusion of the season. Interns will be required to follow the same rules and expectations as players regarding their host families.
- Host Family Appreciation Night During the season, we will honor our host families in an on-field ceremony at a Bat Cats home game. In addition, we host a get-together at the ballpark for all host families, away from a Bat Cats game for food, fun, and games. More information will be passed along as these dates approach.
